Furoshiki are traditional Japanese cloths that are used to wrap or transport goods. These cloths can be used in a variety of ways and are all about sustainability! the last few months I have been designing a Furoshiki in collaboration with Bombay Sapphire.

Made from high-quality, durable fabric, this Furoshiki is perfect for wrapping your bottle of gin for a special occasion or for gifting to a friend or loved one. The bold and detailed illustration was inspired by the spirit and energy of the gin and its botanical ingredients, making it the perfect accessory for any gin lover.
When the collaboration request came in, I was instantly blown away. I dedicated a lot of time to research and brainstorming at the beginning. This is where various designs started to take shape. Traditionally, Furoshiki are printed and crafted with patterns using a specific technique. Therefore, it was important for me to incorporate certain elements from this tradition into my work and carry them forward. The versatility of these cloths is remarkable, and I wanted them to find their place in everyday life, thus continuing the concept. Whether as gift wrap, a scarf, or packaging for personal items, the Furoshiki should be vibrant, full of energy, and reflect the colorful essence of life. That was my vision for it.
some rough sketches of first ideas
Sustainability plays a significant role overall and can no longer be ignored, especially given the current developments. I firmly believe that designers carry a social responsibility as we play a crucial role in shaping the things around us and how we perceive them.
